The consortium Advanced UV for Life was constituted in 2012 in the context of the program "Twenty20 - Partnership for Innovation" issued by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. More than 45 industrial and academic partners from all over Germany synergize their expertise and strength for the development of UV LEDs with custom-tailored properties.
The participating research institutions combine worldwide acknowledged knwo-how in photonics, medicine, plant growth, production and materials engineering - the key technologies for innovation. Thus, the consortium will contribute to significant scientific and technical innovations and applications of UV LEDs. Preservation of health and environment combined with assurance of livelihood are just as relevant as the implementation of new analysis and production technologies.
The participating companies ensure an application-oriented research and development of UV LED based components, systems and processes, as well as their fast implementation in products.
The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut fuer Hoechstfrequenztechnik is leader of the consortium and thus location of the coordination office.
