Photonics West 2026
Photonics West 2026 will once again be the central meeting place for ultraviolet photonics. From UV-A to far-UVC, from fundamentals and components to applications in medicine, industry, and quantum technologies. Between January 17 and 22, 2026, attendees at the Moscone Center (San Francisco) can expect an exceptionally wide range of UV-related lectures and posters.
Light Sources & Nonlinear Optics: The program ranges from DUV and VUV pulse generation (e.g., four-wave mixing, parametric amplification, SHG) and 148-nm VUV lasers to tunable systems from deep-UV to mid-IR. Integrated nonlinear concepts and UV beam shaping are also in focus.
UV LEDs, Lasers & Materials: Numerous contributions address AlN/AlGaN epitaxy, UV-C and DUV LEDs, deep-UV lasers (VCSELs, photonic crystal lasers), as well as design and reliability topics – from light extraction and optics to degradation mechanisms.
far-UVC: Another focus is on far-UVC technologies for medicine and hygiene: from “human-safe” 230-nm LEDs, high-power modules, and field-emission devices to the evaluation of antimicrobial effectiveness and biocompatibility. This is complemented by integrated AlN photonics for far-UVC frequency conversion.
Imaging & Life Sciences: Deep-UV microscopy, UV photoacoustics, endoscopy approaches, and label-free diagnostics demonstrate the direct path from the source to clinical application.
Industry & Processes: UV laser processing, disinfection, DUV lithography, nanoimprint, and metrology round off the program.
Conclusion: Anyone interested in UV, UV-C, and far-UVC photonics will find a unique density of relevant sessions in 2026.
