The 2nd International Workshop on Advanced InAlGaN Laser Diodes 2026 brings together leading scientists and industry partners to discuss the latest developments in InAlGaN laser technology. The focus is on advances in epitaxial layer structures, innovative chip designs, efficiency improvements, and applications in the UV range, which extend from precise material processing to sensor technology and biomedical procedures.

The Symposium & IKZ Fellowship 2026 at the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ) brings together leading researchers and industry partners to discuss current advances in aluminum nitride (AlN) and related nitride technologies. The one-day event features scientific presentations, expert discussions, and the award ceremony for the IKZ International Fellowship, which supports outstanding early-career researchers and strengthens international collaboration. The programme includes sessions on power and RF electronics, highlighting ultrawide-bandgap materials and device reliability, as well as an optoelectronics session focused on UV emitters, photonic-crystal lasers, and far-UVC AlGaN developments. A panel discussion will address the strategic role of nitride semiconductors for European technological sovereignty. Participants will also have the opportunity to join guided laboratory tours showcasing IKZ’s crystal growth facilities and research infrastructure. The symposium offers a platform for scientific exchange, networking, and insight into emerging AlN-based technologies shaping future photonic and electronic applications.

Driven by growing demand in high-impact applications such as water purification, surface and air disinfection, medical sterilization, and indoor air quality systems, AlGaN-based ultraviolet light emitters have made remarkable progress. Emerging uses in areas like food safety, semiconductor manufacturing, and environmental monitoring further accelerate innovation. This session will highlight the latest achievements and provide a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art developments in UV-LED technologies and their applications.
