Semiconductor Technologies & Devices

The development of the complete technology chain for UV LEDs with application-specific wavelengths, performance and chip design and its stable, reproducible operation form the basis of the wide range of applications of the Advanced UV for Life Consortium. A complete technology chain is being established for LEDs in the UVB and UVC wavelength bands within the thematic field of Semiconductor Technologies & Components.

The goal of the development work is, in a first step, to provide UV LEDs for demonstrator units with which the various applications in the Consortium’s other thematic fields can be demonstrated and developed. The experiences gained from this will flow into the continuing development of the technology, toward higher performance and also toward longer component lifespans. These developments are to lay the foundation for the fabrication of UV LEDs in Germany.
